I agree with Concerned Lady. I suffered with undiagnosed CD for years...  Here are the blood tests you should REQUEST from your
Doctor.

I agree with Nanny!

Also, get tested (bllod tests & stool tests) for CELIAC DISEASE (GLUTEN INTOLERANCE), which is a "disease" that can be inherited or acquired! Fatty stool is a big symptom of Celiac Disease, among other conditions.

There's some excellent info on the PERIPHERAL NEUROPATHY forum, over at http://www.braintalk.org about "FOOD", AND "FOOD SENSITIVITIES CAUSING MALABSORPTION", etc. Check these "threads" out! You'll get some very helpful info! :-)

Good luck!

Sincerely, Concerned lady

Most commonly steatorrhea is a sign of malabsorption, which is caused by poor pancreatic function.  It's only as the condition worsens that weight loss becomes apparent.  It appears that your doctor is already headed in the right direction by doing a CT-scan of the pancreas.  Hopefully this will reveal something.  Your dull pain location and the steat indicate that something is wrong, and most likely the pancreas is involved.  Sometimes even the bloodwork tests (amylase and lipase) don't show pancreatic insufficiencies, yet they still exist.  Keep searching for answers.
