I heard that in NYC a case of Ebola

was confirmed and that the night before he was bowling, taking an Uber car to get there.  They are checking his Metro card today to track his prior whereabouts, etc.  As of this morning's news, they are isolating only his girlfriend (he's in isolation in the hospital).   He claims he was symptom-free the night he went bowling and spiked a 100.3 temp the next morning.

I found his timeline, it was actually less than 10 days after he returned that he got sick.  He told officials that he was going to self quarantine

October 14: Spencer leaves Guinea for Brussels, Belgium, en route to the U.S.

October 17: Spencer returns to New York City, arriving at John F. Kennedy International Airport.

Wednesday: Feeling well, Spencer went for a three-mile jog and bowling with friends in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn, Bassett said.

Thursday: Spencer developed diarrhea and a fever, which eventually rose to 100.3 degrees. He and his fiancee made a joint call to Doctors Without Borders and the city health department to detail his symptoms and his travels. EMTs in full protective gear arrived and took him to Bellevue in an ambulance surrounded by police squad cars. Hours later, New York Mayor Bill de Blasio and others confirm that Spencer has tested positive for Ebola.

The doctor who now has Ebola was really unprofessional in not staying at home.  He said he was taking his temperature but he was feeling odd a few days before that so he should have known better than to be out in the public possibly exposing people to the virus.  He knew how horrific it could be as he has seen people suffer through it and die from it. To me it seems that there is a fine line between not being contagious and being contagious.  He said he was feeling sick before he got the fever so he should have stayed home.

I wonder about the people who have come home gotten the virus and no one knows about it.  That could start a pandemic.

Just like the NBC (?) doctor who broke her 'self quarantine'. And these are our 'medical pros'.... as the idiot in charge of the CDC who has to revise his protocols every week. The bottom line is you CAN get it through contact with skin and droplet exhalation... IE- an infected, febrile persons moist skin or the inhalation of an infected cough or sneeze. One would be sheepish to believe otherwise.

This Dr was very irresponsible in his actions. He should have self quarantined  and yes they have taken is fiance and 2 friends into quatantine.

This is how a pandemic can and will start. Not saying it will but without a travel ban we are playing with fire.

There are so many conflicting news articles out there.  This one from CNN  (2hrs ago) says that 3 people are being quarantined (fiancee and 2 friends), but doesn't mention anything about him being self- quarantined prior to exhibiting a temperature. Says he took his temperature twice daily.

Here is an article about it, not sure how factual but it says that this doctor said he was self quarantining himself and then went bowling

I heard about this as well, he returned from Africa 10 days before he started feeling ill.  In that time he went to many areas though they "say" he was not contagious until he started feeling sick.

I know in my case, I run a low temperature all the time so I could have a fever fly and not be detected at first.

Working with the virus as a doctor, he should have self quarantined himself.
