enlarged aortic root??

Anyone with eds have this problem? Took my two year old to the cardiologist & was told she has an enlarged aortic root. We went to have the mitral valve prolapse issue checked out before being put to sleep for surgery. She was cleared for surgery but I dont know what can be done about this issue or if anything needs to be done.

HI and welcome to the EDS group.

Sorry, I do not have this problem, nor am I familiar with it.

May I ask what type of surgery is she being readied for?

Sending good vibes~~~~ and prayers for ur DD and all those in charge of her care.

Hi Selma! She had styes removed from her eyes. Surgery went great but we are still trying to figure out the heart issue. We went to another ped cardio and he says she doesnt have any dialation in her heart! So frustrating! Now we have to see a third dr to try and figure out if she does have it or not.

Apparently it is a very common issue with EDS but there are no symptoms so they on catch it by doing an echo. From what one dr said it can be controlled by meds. Thank god!!!

Thank you for the prayers!

No worries..glad to hear an update....and will continue prayers until u get this sorted out.

I had a echo and my heart was fine...there r many diff types of EDS and even if u r classified with one type, it doesn't mean that u /she will have all the reported symtpoms.

Good luck
