Ive wondered this time and time again...I dont remember where the passage is but I know it..." A rich man shall NOT see the kindgdom of heaven"

I got a Dad who just died who was rich but he gave soooo much monies to charities he adopted 2 kids threw that safe the children program in Africa and sent monthy checks made sure they got clothing, food, schooling and health care,,,he loved the human society too,,,but he had a nice next egg left,,,do I need worry of his soul,,,,

he for sure was a Christain...he had demons was a horrible alcholic , but that is a illness, its proven Genetic which is why I NEVER drink....

I know alot of the Bible is open for interpertation,,,rich ....as in just money or could it be excesses of greed IDK   please give opinion as I know reallly the only one who knows this is God.

Hi. This is the first time I have visited here, so I hope its ok to add to this as well.
The only one that knows our hearts is God, so none of us can be certain where someone else ends up.  Like April said, money does not keep you from heaven, its just harder to serve God not money. Mark 4:19 talks about seeds that have no roots because of many reasons, and one being the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches and the lusts of other things--these things can choke the word and cause it to become unfruitful. The bible says if we confess with our mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in our hearts that God raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Rom. 10:9-10. The way to know if we ourselves are saved can be found in 1John---if you read 1 John over and over we are told we will LOVE. The only thing I want to caution you on is we are told to love and give and help the poor, in fact these are the things God considers a real true fast, (isahiah 58:6-7) but he also says that many will come to him and say they did a lot of good deeds for him, in his name and he will say depart from me you worker of iniquity (mathew 7:22). Please know I am in NO way judging your dad, he may have done what he did with a wonderul and pure heart. I just didnt want anyone to think good works = saved. (not of works, lest any man should bost). Eph..2:9
I also wanted to share a little story I heard once. A vile and wicked man hated God, and cursed God on his death bed. His son prayed for him because he believed God loved him. When it came time for this mans spirit to leave his body, the prayers of the son were answered. Before the mans spirit went, Jesus came to him and told him he loved him, and this man whose spirit was leaving his body, was healed. When this man came to, his son was sitting there and he told his son the God he cursed was love, and this man repented and is now a Christian. We humans think in terms of right now and we limit God. God is not limited by anything. Death has no power. God is so merciful and loving, although I can not biblically prove this, I believe God does give another chance just before our spirits leave our bodies. Again, this is just my opinion.

Amen good point! GOD doesn't care about us being rich or poor! Because both can go 2 heaven or hell depending on the conditioning of the heart!

This is the passage you are referring to:

Mathew 19:16-24

Just then a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?”
“Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.”

“Which ones?” he inquired.

Jesus replied, “‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony,  honor your father and mother, and ‘love your neighbor as yourself.”

“All these I have kept,” the young man said. “What do I still lack?”

Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth.

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven.  Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”

******************************************************************************************************
Jesus didn't say a rich man CANNOT get into heaven, he said it is HARD for a rich man to get to heaven. The reason for this is because too often we put our possesions first instead of God first. It's a heart issue. The man in this story was a good man but he didn't want to have to give up his riches for Jesus. Jesus knew this and that's why he went right to his heart and asked him to be willing to give up his riches to follow him.

Obviously, there were plenty of rich people in the bible that God blessed with riches. Just off the top of my head I can think of would be Job (blessed twice as much the second time around than he was the first), King David, Solomon, Queen Sheba, Esther and many others. God did bless them with many riches and earthly treasures but He also made sure their hearts were right with God.

We had a visitor at our church some time ago. He's a very wealthy business man. When he started following God more seriously the last 10 years or so he began to invest his money in building wells in 3rd world countries, schools, food, etc. He is very careful and wise with his money and where it is invested but heavily invests most of it for God's Kingdom. God is using him in a mighty way.

Being wealthy isn't the problem. It's our hearts that all the problems arise. If we don't put God first and we put anything else first then there's a problem.

God is the only one worthy of judging our hearts. No one else can know or understand what's truly in our hearts. If your father truly loved the Lord and trusted in Jesus as his Savior then he is in heaven with him.

I hope that helps bring some comfort. And I'm truly sorry for the loss of your father. I pray the Lord will continue to comfort you and bring you peace.

Hmmm! I know we've spoken about this before! Only GOD knows where the soul goes once it leaves the earth! Who knows what his last words where when he passed away! But I can tell you this one can have all the money in the world but if Jesus is not the main frame it will only leed 2 destruction! GOD doesn't care about how much $ we have or give away! He only cares about the condition of the heart & what it's true intent & purpose is!
