Erection Problem

I need someones help answering questions regarding my Erectile Dysfunction.  I am 21 years old and physically fit.  I regularly engage in physical activities and maintain a healthy diet.  I do not smoke or engage in any type of drugs.  I am a social drinker.

I have a couple factors regarding my problem
1.  When I engage in physical activity such as running or working out my penis becomes very cold and decreases in size.
2.  I do not receive an erection upon waking up in the morning
3.  I am able to receive an erection but it does not remain erect unless continually touched and will go away within a matter of a few seconds
4.  I have a problem becoming sexually aroused and this negative impacts relationships with the inability to perform

I have visited doctors in my area and I receive the same blank look from each one.  I am 21 years old and should not be experiencing this type of problem.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello.

First of all, if you're seeing doctors who give you a "blank look," you're seeing the wrong doctors. You need to see a specialist: a urologist who specializes in sexual issues.

The fact that you're not getting morning erections may indicate that there's a physiological cause. This can be diagnosed through an exam and various tests.

And, of course, this condition can affect you emotionally. I suspect that because it's difficult for you to stay erect, you worry and become anxious and this gets in the way of your ability to become aroused.

In addition to medical treatment, you may need some ideas about how to integrate this treatment into your sexuality in a way that can enhance rather than distract. Once you find out what's going on physically, write back, and we'll discuss your next steps. Best of luck to you. Dr. J
