Bilateral Monocular Diplopia

I recently developed a vertical Ghosting in both eyes the same.  Most noticable at night but i have the symptoms during the day also.  The further away the object is the worst the vertical diplopia becomes.  It is in both eyes meaning if i cover one eye it does not go away.  Recently got classes but that does not fix the problem.  Street signs, tail lights, billboards all have a vertical ghost image that is about a quarter to half the size of the actual object overlapping.  Could this be a sign of something serious.  I do have it with solid objects also especiall with a person in they have a white shirt on.  Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Monocular, vertical diplopia is usually caused by sudden Astigmatism from a cataract forming or wrong prescription in your glasses. Optic nerve problems can rarely be associated with this condition and you should be evaluated for any problems such as pituitary abnormalities or neurologic problems associated with the optic nerves. You should seek the care of an Eye MD possibly one specializing in Neuro-ophthalmology.

Sincerely,
Timothy D. McGarity, M.D.

Dr McGarity thank you for the information.  The thing that seems to be most alarming about my visual symptoms is that its present in both eyes both used together and in each eye separately.  I was recently prescribed glasses which make for clearer vision however it mkes the ghosting more prevalent.  Also the weirdest thing happens when i look up a slight bit with my eyes then the problem resolves.  It resolves with in each eye even if i cover the other while looking up.  Hopefully this isnt a serious neurological isses.
