Temporary blindness

My sister's son woke up in the middle of the night and was blind, but she won't believe him and won't help him. What could the possible causes be for the blindness?

Depends a lot on his age. If the eye is still "blind" its an all out emergency and he should go to the emergency room, his personal physician or an ophthalmologist ASAP.
