Hi. I have been diagnosised with IIH in July this year. Because of the level of CSF surrounding the optic nerves, I am having a VP shunt fitted in the next few weeks,I saw my Ophthalmologist, who is working directly with my Neurologist, last Fri and both agree that I should have the shunt sugery done. When I asked why they were not considering any other options he said it was because of the way the CSF was surrounding the nerves. It seems, I hope I have this right, that the csf usually surrounds the nerves 360 degrees but mine is only 180 degrees. At the bottom of the nerve. Does this not make placement of the shunt more difficult? Can the put the shunt where it needs to go to work to its optimum? My last opening pressure was 46. I am having great difficulties at the moment with blurry vision, small black outs, greying out. I find this to be the most worrying aspect of the illnes. Thank you very much in advance. Cath278
