Darkened Central Vision

Hi, I have a condition in my eyes called 'histoplasmosis'.  Currently, in my left eye I am constantly experiencing a darkened sort of blurry spot in my central vision..It's like when you look into a light and the after affects of it are always there.  This is very noticeable when I close my other eye.  But I can notice it when both eyes are open as it seems as though my vision in the left eye is not as sharp.

I've had this about 2 months ago for about a month or so and then it went away for about 3 weeks and now it's back again.  The first time I went to my optometrist and he didn't discover anything (he dilated my eyes), he also said that the histo was not active.  I must say also that I've had a traumatic situation occur (a loss of our baby in utero at about 5.5 months in November '08)...I know this could be my body's way of dealing with things, however, it seems to be more than stress related.  I also have hypothyroidism but am taking levothryoxin to regulate it.

Any advice as to what this may be?  I am scared that I'll go blind....
Thank you for your time.

My first thought was that you could be noticing a possible old or new retinal scar due to the ocular histoplasmosis syndrome.  You should make an appointment with an ophthalmologist for a complete dilated retinal exam and you may also need an OCT scan or even a fluroresceine angiogram if any abnormalities are observed.  Don't just chalk this up to stress, it needs to be carefully evaluated.

I just saw my optometrist today for a complete eye exam (dilation) to try to resolve what is going on with my left eye and to be referred if need be to an ophthalmologist.  I noticed that many hours after the dilation my left eye, the vision, seems what it used to be, I just wanted to know if this is normal?  Do you think the vision will stay here?

Also, my optometrist conducted a central field test which came up normal, colour test which also was normal..He did notice that I do have a very tiny opague spot on my lense...I think he said central. He said a small beginning of a cataract, but find this very strange since I'm only 31.  Is this normal for someone to begin forming a cataract?   He then went on to say it could be CSR (although the tests didn't confirm this) or a small opaque on my lense.  He referred me to see an ophthalmologist. Now I am just waiting for an appointment.. Based on what I mentioned in my first message, what is your opinion, could this be an early beginning to cataracts or could this be CSR?
