Eye muscle problems

Hello!
I have never thought to come to the eye forum previously, I have posted in the MS boards but glad to come here as my main problem is always including my eyes :(

I have had optic neuritis... Always in right eye and once slightly in left eye.

I have read for hours on the 4-6th nerves problems. I think I may have the 4th nerve problem.
I don't know if anyone can answer this but my questions are what happens from here with my link of MS?

I have tilted my head sideways for a year for sure.
I have had neck pain for 4-5 years on and off.
I do have a slipped disk or something in c4-5 that was confirmed close to a year ago.
My double vision comes with looking up and down
Also comes with tilting to my right side only.
I also have blurred vision when tilting to right with one or two eye open.

I am going to an eye clinic to be tested for prisms to correct and I see my eye specialist afterwards and go from there.

Will they take my license? Will the testing show a number of how bad it is to determine if I should drive?
Does the prism glasses usually work?
Will the muscle problems happen again after a surgery?
Will they do surgery knowing it is probably ms related?

I know this is a ton of questions... Even a general idea if anyone knows would be greatly appreciated!

TIA,
Cann

It's a difficult question to answer without actually examining you myself. MS can cause numerous eye symptoms, including affecting the nuclei of the 4th and 6th nerve especially along the median longitudinal fasiculus of the midbrain. This classically cause an Internuclear Ophthalmoplegia (INO). Prism can help somewhat, but it won't perfectly cure the symptoms of double vision. You probably won't be prescribed surgery. Your DL may be revoked if you can't pass the DL test or if you are experiencing symptomatic double vision.

Best wishes,

Thank you for the reply!

I have been to my specialist and to an eye clinic for the prism glasses.

I don't think my double vision is that bad.. I now have a level 2 to get used to for now and will probably go with a 3 in 2 months time. This is with my head not tilted. Yahoo!
She mentioned I would be at least an 8 with my head tilted to the right. Thankfully I don't walk around with my head tilted to the right.

I have found the computer screen at work much easier to look at but find that now when I take the glasses off (they are only for reading) that the double vision is much worst so I am looking forward to a new set of glasses for near and far.

My doctor did say it was 4th Nerve damage causing this.

There was no mention of surgery.. Very happy about this!
Thank you again for reply!
