Ocular rosacea

I have ocular rosacea and suffer from dry, irritated, red eyes constantly.  Since I very rarely suffer from facial outbreaks, I don't use the metronizadole cream on my face. However, I've been told that using the cream on my face will benefit the eye inflammation as well. Is this true?
