Environmental changes can also be helpful. Do not use ceiling fans in your bedroom. In your work space, ensure that vents are not directing air towards your face. If you work on computers, take "blinking breaks" every 15 minutes or so where you deliberately look in the far distance (such as out a window) to relax your near focus. Looking at computer monitors decreases the blink rate in many people more than 25%.
To be effective, omega oil supplements usually have to be taken in distilled form (meaning gelcaps, not flaxseed). They are absorbed better if taken with a fatty meal.
As I mentioned in response to your other question. . . . . flaxseed is recommended for eye problems and specifically for dry eye. I buy the liquid gels and also grind whole flaxseed and mix it into a healthy smoothie drink. (Obviously, the flaxseed is to be taken orally--never directly to the eye!)
