My strabismus fixed but stresses muscle, causes headache.

Good Afternoon Doctor,
I hope you can help!
I have had two surgeries to correct my alternating strabismus ( last one 3 years ago). I use each eye independently- my left eye is dominant however- when wearing glasses and whichever eye I am not using slides out a little to side. However when I use my contact lens, or take off my glasses my eyes line up and fuse relatively well. Having gone to a new opthamologist recently he said I should be able to fuse my eyes while wearing my glasses also. ( I can absolutely not though) He prescribed new lenses for my glasses and tells me I will fuse with these, which I am excited about. However my worry at this time is when I have worn my contacts my usually underworked muscles above my right eye , just where my eyebrow begins becomes very sore and I get an awful ache across my forehead. My brow looks cross and tense also, like I used to do when my stabismus was at its worst and I would over - correct my eye.
- My question is do you think botox in the muscle near my right inner brow would help my ache and strain caused by  new eyes new alignment? And would this be deemed a medical procedure to alleviate the pain, and be covered by insurance? Or would it be deemed 'cosmetic' ( which i cant afford)
- And- last question- do you think afterall this time I will fuse with my new glasses lenses even though they have no prism? It seems to good to be true!  And is it that my present opthamologist is very good at his job and my last one simply was not?!
Many , many thanks for your help, Dee

Dear Dee165,

If contact lenses work well without a glass for prism, it is possible that with glasses, you will also do well.  With regards to BOTOX, I would recommend that you speak with your eyeMD to determine whether he/she thinks it might be helpful.
