I have a friend who has never had any known allergies, nothing strange has ever happened really, and he's quite healthy. We were watching a movie and when it was over I looked over and the area just below his right eye (but not on the eyelid) was swollen so much he couldn't look down. It was very squishy.. like one huge, tough blister.
The only thing he recalled doing that could've possibly caused anything to happen was he ate a little popcorn, and then his eye itched in the corner so he scratched it. But why would that cause the area beneath the eye to swell?
The strange thing was, it hadn't been there 30 minutes beforehand, and after a couple of hours it went away.
It's gone, but he says that it now feels like there's something under the skin, and that even though it doesn't appear swollen it still isn't back to normal.
Is this an allergy eh wasn't aware of, something to do with the popcorn/eye itching, or just some random occurrence in his face?
It was one, distorted lump. It started below the eyelid and ended at about mid-cheek. It wasn't a specific shape, so I'm not sure how to describe it.
We're trying to figure out what it is BEFORE we send him to an actual doctor, because if it's just something random there's no use going to a doctor if it's not going to come back.
