Blurry vision post pinguecula excision

Hi! I had pingueculas removed from both of my eyes 3 weeks ago. The first 1.5 week was normal and I could see great. All of a sudden I woke up with blurry vision. I can see up close, but not far away. I have been to the doctor and the only thing they can find are some clogged meibomian glands. I have always had blepharitis though with no symptoms. I am doing lid scrubs and warm compresses, but no relief. The procedure I had was a bare sclera technique following the .01 mg mitomycin c drops, for 4 days. Is this a normal occurence after this type of surgery? Why was I fine and then all of a sudden had blurry vision? My biggest concern in that this is mmc related. I do not have a refractive issue, so the doctor said she thinks it is the tear film. I have been doing the scrubs for about 5 days. I am so scared i am not going to get my vision back. I had perfect vision to start with. Any information will help! Thanks!

Hi! Thank you for your response. I am having a doctor look for scleral thinning and she hasn't seen any. . Is it possible to miss scleral thinning during an exam? I used a .01% of mmc for 4 days 4 times a day. Is this considered a large dose? Thanks!

This is not a normal occurrence after pingueculum surgery.  While vision might be blurry in the early days after the procedure, this will gradually clear.  It is possible that there has been a change in the prescription of the eyes after the surgery, so I would start with a repeat refraction.  My concern with a bare sclera technique and mitomycin use is the possibility of scleral thinning.  I would seek a second opinion.

I had pinguecula surgery almost 2 month ago too!  What doctor? It may be from the steroid eye drops (Durezol or Pred Forte). It happened to me too off and on for a while. Especially looking at the computer then looking away. But it's better now. Email me. ***@****
