loss of vision in one eye

Hello,

two days ago my father all of the sudden started to see spyderwebs on his eye and a line through it and loss vision of about 90% on that eye still with the spyderweb vision.  He went to the doctor and he said that he had had a bleeding in inside his eye and that this condition would go away in about three months, he also dialated his pupils, this was on Wednesday afternoon that he was seen by the doctor, but today he still had a blured on the good eye and the bad eye was still the same, he says that the good eye still had a blured he thinks because of the drops for dialating his pupils, is this normal or is there anything else we should be concern with? I am concern with the bad eye and now the other eye and the blured.

Most stokes affect vision in BOTH EYES.  Put your faith in your neurologist and be sure you see a ophthalmologist Eye MD, perhaps a neuro-ophthalmologist.

Hi Nancy,

Itz just that whatever came in my mind & whatever was true to my knowlegde, I had mentioned it on this forum.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss of vison in one eye. Really I always feel that this should reallly not happen to good people & to people who really have faith & high belief in God. But at the end of the day, whatever has to happen, would hapen & we cannot change it. But also I believe, that at the moment, what we have is an oppurtunity. Yes we still have an oppurtunity in our hands, which we can work on to try & fix any problem.

In your case you still have an oppurtunity to take great care of your good eye. I am not sure how did your vison go bad in your left eye. Incase you feel or the docs have stated that your right eye is now at risk, then please now look into things & try and get it sorted out.

Please take care of it, b'coz life without vison is really difficult. As I mentioned, I never have anything against God, b'coz I am really satisfied that my right eye is good & would be good enough for the rest of my life. About my left eyes, well everytime I visit the Docs, they say that therez nothing much that can be done at the  moment, but they go ahead & assure, that my eyesight would continue to remain as it is & would never get even more bad. But after a few months when I visit them again, they are really surprised to see, that the left eye is getting worst from before. Thatz the reason I am very well prepared for the left eye going blank completly, b'coz as it is, they have declared at the moment 80 % no vison in the left eye even after wearing spectacles, so how much ever they try to assure, we all know whatz going to happen, but as I said I am all set to face that b'coz I am very sure the good vison in my right eye would not leave me till mny last breath.

I also have to appreciate one thing, that in my left eye, the vison started getting bad slowly as the time went by & I really appreciate that it did not go blank all of a sudden as few people experience, b'coz I am sure if my vison in my left eye would have disappeared all of a sudden, then I wud have probably gone crazy & it wud have taken me ages to recover from it. But now atleast I am well prepared for the exact future with regards to my vison.

And for anyone reading this & thinking itz funny, then please cover your left eye for just 2 mins & work on the comp & then you would understand what a few people have to go thru in their life.I do not want anybody's sympathy, just want you all to realise that you should consider yourself lucky incase you have good vison in both your eyes.

Cheers!!

I am so sorry about your father's eyes. May I suggest that he a retiniologist, or a vitreo-retinal specialist. You can find one in the US at www.aao.org.

\I so lost most of the vision in one eye, and my right eye is at risk.

I hope you get help right away.

These docs after putting the drops, the vison does get blurred, but that is just for 1 day & not more than that. About your Dad's eye that has gone bad, really so sorry about that. Although from your explaination it is really not very clear on what basis did the doc suggested that the vison on the bad eye would return in 3 months time. Anyways, letz think in a positive way & hope for the best.

What I would really like to suggest, is that you should go aheah & take your Dad to various other docs & get their opinions as well. I really understand how difficult life is with just one eye, b'coz I have a major loss of vison in one of my eye. But I have got used to it & I am prepared for it to go completly blind one day as it is anyways getting worst as the time goes by & no one can do anything about it. I have accepted this b'coz I am  atleast satisfied tht one of my eye has good vison.

Pls do visit the doc as we wud never be able to tolerate our Parents suffering in any small way. I dont mind facing worst problems than this, but I wud not be able to toleare if my family suffers in any kind of a way.

Take care of ur Dad. All the best..

It is NOT normal and he should call the ophthalmologist tomorrow early, if the "good" eye is still blurry he needs to go back in for a recheck.
