Cryotherapy is not a normal treatment for pterygium as it would cause a scar much worse than the original pterygium. Surgical excision is the only way to remove the pterygium. Conjuctival autografts or amniotic membrane grafts and/or mitomycin are often used in conjuction with the excision.

if cryotherapy isnt an usual treatment for pterygium, what could be done in the situation of recurrent growth? what are the latest alternative treatments?
this when the patient is having so much pain with the irritation and growing and most surgeons hesitate to operate for fear of more growth... what are the outlooks for such a patient? doesnt it exist anything to help the patient?
