reducing Prednosolone

Dear Sir,
I have benn prescribed Prenisolone for Polyneuralgica. I had an inconclusive biopsy in May. I was taking 60mg daily which over the summer was reduced. It is now middle of October and I still taking 5mg daily. I am waiting to see a specialist but there is such a long waitig list that it could be weeks or months before I get help. I have had and still are having unpleasent side effects Can I reduce further for example next week take half this dose? Is a dose of 2mg sufficient to keep me out of trouble. If I noticed symptoms returning I could increase again?
Thank you.

Dear Doctor Feldman,
Thank you for reply. I have asked my doctor but her answer is not satisfying. She says
I can reduce the dose and at the same time pay attention to the symptoms. If they get worse increase the dose, if better decrease. I am now at 5mg Prednisonen. The only thing I notice is that I am continually tired but this could be attributed to my thyroid problems. I take Levaxin daglig. Fosamax weekly and various other medications.
As a woman I hate my moon face and swollen legs and tummy though I am not prepared to risk my health  for vanity.
How can I or indeed a doctor know how far I can reduce the dose further?
Yours sicerely,

Dear darling364,

I recommend that you seek the care of your own doctor to determine whether you can reduce the medications. Let them know what problems you are having.
