spasm of the eye

My father is 73 and had a lasik and cataract surgery and then he had his eye lids lifted, but still his eyes shut and he can't open them until he the muscle relaxes and react to the motion of opening up.  He has seen doctors in Miami, Alabama and S. Carolina and he has been told the what he has is eye spasm.  The only treatment that he has been given for that is botox injections.  My question is, is there a cure or therapy or surgery to correct that?  Please I'm so desperate to know cause my parents have always been very independant and now they are very limited to move around since my dad is the one that drive and they live alone.  Please answer me as soon as it is possible.  thanking you in advance for your help and cooperationtion and wishing upon you many blessings.

Peace and grace:
Dee

Thank you Dr. Feldman;

The botox has helped him only for about a week after he is injected but the he goes back to the same situation.  He also had plastic surgery on his eye lids and that helped for about a month and then he went back to the same situation.  How can I find the specialists that you recomended in Miami, Fl. Can you refer me to any?  I had thought of taking him to the Rand Eye Institute.  What do you think?

Most sincerely;

Dear Dee1169,

Your father sounds like he has uncontrollable spasms of the eyes lids.  You do not report whether the botulinum toxin injections are helping him or not.  I would recommend that he see a neuro-ophthalmologic or oculoplastic doctor to treat him.  There are other options if the botox is not working.
