First time IVF

Hi,
Just wondering what you thought my chances were with IVF.  Background.  I'm 30 years old, have one daughter.  I've done IUI's with injectables...last year I got pregnant with a chemical..second time worked.
Now I've done 3 IUI's and all have been negative. So we're switching to IVF. On 300units of repronex a day (2 in the morning 2 at night) I've produced about 5-6 mature follicles everytime for IUI.  I've had FSH levels range from an 8 to a 13...so it appears that I have some diminshed ovarian reserve.  When I do IVF they are going to give me 450 units of repronex daily...I'm just worried that I wont make enough eggs..I'm hoping to at least made 7 or 8 but are my chances greatly reduced by these numbers??? Everything else is very normal with my husband and I...his stuff is always perfect.
My clinic has a very high success rate with IVF...for women 35 and under my docs stats are between 40-55% success rate IF you can make it to retrievel..I'm just at a loss and so frustrated.  Do you know if since I'm young that maybe I'll just make fewer eggs (thus, my borderline FSH) but that the should be pretty good eggs due to my age?? Also, what have you heard about taking DHEA to improve egg quality and quanity??
I'm currently on birth control for 3 weeks...no lupron will be used....I will be taking 3X3 morning evening repronex, then it sounds like when the lead follicle is around 13 or 14 I will be taking antagon.
Does this sound good?  Any insight would be GREATLY appreciated!!!
Shayla

Hi Guys

This is my first post and my first ivf cycle. I am 31 with borderline FSH and only one fallopian tube. Dh is 33 with a high sperm count.I am at present 12 days past embryo transfer ( 2 embies ) and i am feeling light cramps and a tiny bit of light brown discharge. Is this the dreaded period or are these symtoms that i have been successful - GOING CRAZY WONDERING!

This sounds like a good protocol. If you have made six mature follicles during IUI cycles I am optimistic you will do fine with IVF. Despite the FSH levels, as you are only 30 and your clinic has good success rates your chances for success are very good.

They put back 2 embies.  I guess it's by law that he couldn't put in more than 2.  Both of them were 5-day blastocysts, grades 3AB and 3AB-.  A is the rating of the inside of the blastocyst, which will become the baby.  B is the rating of the outer shell, which becomes the placenta.  So he said the quality was really good, and he can't put back more than 2, because we need to maximize pregnancy rate while minimizing the rate of multiples.  he was also saying that in Europe, they only put back one embie.  I'm still waiting (biting my nails and all) for them to call me with the results!

I'm going in for my beta HCG test tomorrow morning...14 days post transfer.  I didn't get my monthly...so maybe that's a good sign? I'm also having many sysmptoms but i'm telling myself that I have the flu :-).  I don't want to get my hopes up!
The doctor will run the test and call me a few hours later, so i'll have results tomorrow!

I'm 25 years old.  I also had similar FSH levels and was told I have poor quality eggs and diminished ovarian reserve.  I was not given enough follistim(repronex) during the first round of IVF. I only produced 8 eggs, all from my right ovary, and only 2 fertilized into embryos.
They doubled the dosage of follistim this time (from 300 iu to 600 iu per day, 300 in the morning and 300 at night).  They also waited until my lead follicle was 20 mm before they took the eggs out.  So it was much better this time.  I produced 15 eggs and 10 fertilized. Your RE knows what to do best but no one really knows how things will go until you try IVF at least once.
I wish you the best of luck...

Hi,

First keep your mind cool....I know there must be thousands of thoughts running thru your mind right now. Let your body do the work for you.

I did one IVF in October which was not successful.  I too am bordline fsh.....and I am 32 years we have been trying since 3 1/2 years now.

See that your doctor does not over simulate you as your reserve is low....otherwise you might loose too many eggs unnecessarily....Because every egg size is different and it doesnt matter how many you get ...ultimately only few go to become full blastocyst....They retrived 9 from me and only two went to become full blastocyst .....

I havent heard of the above medications.  If you are going to an infertility center then they mostly know what to do.  But you keep on asking questions with your nurse if you dont understand anything......and write it down...as it is always better to understand what is the procedure........(Earlier i wouldnt ask questions and then my OB/GYN said that I should ask questions..)

Good luck and I hope you have success.....I have gone thru so much and still trying to think that one day a miracle works for me as well as other hopeful to be mothers.
