Does anyone know what this is???? HELP!

In the 1970's when I was a child I was diagnosed with pidgeon toes.  My mother and father, at the doctor's request, put me in some kind of corrective brace that was to be used whenever I slept.  Since I was still a baby that made up about 11 hours a day.  the metal brace went between my two little hardsoled white shoes and was "cranked" ourward to adjust my foot position.

Does anyone know what this thing was called???????  I need to be able to tell my podiatrist about it because I am having some serious foot/ankle issues that may be connected.
