sometimes a cuboid fracture can occur from an ankle sprain. this is commonly missed. if there is a fracture and was not able to heal correctly, you could have pain with increase activity.
if the xrays are normal, you could have strain to the etensor digitorum muscle belly, which is located near that area.
massage, warm compresses, and icing can help. in addition, anti-inflammotories can also help. lastly, orthotics can help support the area and decrease excessive motion in the tarsal joints. if you want to purchase an over the counter version, try "superfeet" orthotics. if you continue to have pain, get a custom made pair.
Thanks a lot for your information, much appreciated.
