Hi,
Then it could be secondary to H.pylori. infection (causing ulcer disease.)
In any case an upper GI endoscopy has to be done.

Hi,
An upper GI endoscopy is very essential in the evaluation and management of blood vomiting.
You can advise your husband to avoid painkillers if he is taking any.
PPI and sucralfate may be helpful if the bleeding is due to ulcer disease.
I would like to tell you there are many other conditions like varices which also cause blood vomiting and those conditions do not respond to the medications I have mentioned.

The best thing to do is consulting your GI doctor for endoscopy.
