Nail Damage

Hi , i closed my car door over my finger nail and it get red then blue over 0.75 of the nail , it wasn't painful so i just thought it is ok , and the nail will grow blew it and will remove the damaged one . i just put finger cover over it, i didn't get the blood out , so after 2 weeks it opens itself and get out the old blood and everything  , and the old nail get out completely , but i found that the new finger was not complete yet and it had only 30% done and covering only half of the finger and the other half is only meat :( , now it seems to be it will be for ever like that , i mean the nail will only cover the half of the finger , so my questions is can i go to doctor to remove the new nail and may be i will have new one ? , or that un Groing nail will grow ( which i dont think ) and cover my finger ?
PS: if you dont understand i can insert PIC lol
Thanks

Thanks Brandywinne
To geminigirl1963 , the old nail already from 1 week dropped and now the new nail is only cover the half of the finger and it is like it will never grow as it show like my other nails , meaning i am afraid that the process is already finished without letting the new nail grow to full.
i can include a pic of my nail , but it look very ugly lol

Chances are a new nail will grow in the place of the old unless the nerves/blood supply have been damaged, which it doesn't sound like it since there has been some new growth (and you haven't experienced a lot of pain).  However, it takes a good long while for nails to grow, so it's not going to be a quick process.  During this time, keep the finger protected from further injury and also be sure to keep the area especially clean to avoid infection.
