Hi!
Follicular cysts are normal. They are eggs. Eggs develop in follicles and the follicles grow to about 2 cm in size before they rupture due to ovulation. So while the follicles may go away, new ones are going to form, and they are almost certainly NOT the cause of your pain.
Two things strike me, one is the coincidence of the pain beginning with the Essure procedure. I wonder whether your essure device is in the proper spot, or has slipped, and is causing pain and showing up on your ultrasound ( the incidental finding). The way to find out would be hysteroscopy--which is a camera that is inserted into the uterus from the cervix. (NOT the same as a laparoscopy).
The other possibility is IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). If my patient had your symptoms, I would be inclined to treat her for IBS for 2-4 weeks to see if things improved before going on to hysteroscopy. If not, do the scope, if so there's your answer.
Hope this is helpful!

Can IBS be diagnosed with a colonoscopy or CT scan. I had those done and everything came back ok. I also took fiber supplements for 2 months before my laparoscopy and that didn't help with the pain. Are you familiar with the Essure Procedure? I live in a small town and here not everybody is up to date with the procedure. How far in my uterus are the coils suppose to be? Last time I had a pelvic ultrasound the technician asked me if I had an IUD. I told her I had the essure procedure done (she didn't have a clue), but she mentioned that it was in my uterus. I'm concerned about what can this do to me if is not in the right place?
