A related discussion,
hiv 1&2 screening rapid test was started.
Is 8 week mark will apply across or its just restricted to testing done in UK. Is rapid membrane based immunoassay test (for hiv 1/ 2 screening) done in India reliable after 8 weeks. Yr reply would be very helpful for me and make my life bit easy. Thanks
Do you feel that ANY antibody tests will pick up pretty much ANY HIV at 7 months?
No significance difference at all.

Dr José
Dear Dr Jose Garcia,
is there any kind of diference if we took a 4 generation (duo combo) at the 27 nd day, in spite of the 28 gt day? Would only a day make anykind of diference? I had a low risk exposure and i've tested 27 days latre with a 4 generation Hiv test by electochimioluminescence metod.
Thank you
Hello,
Thank you very much for your post and welcome to our HIV forum.
The standard UK guidelines actually state 12 weeks or 84 days. People commonly say 3 months as it is usually easier to remember. However the antibody test can be considered conclusive much earlier than that; it is highly reliable already after 6 to 8 weeks and this guideline will soon be changed, possibly to 8 weeks.
Best wishes,
Dr José
