Oral Sex Safe ?

First of all, i would like to said sorry of my poor english.

I'm a male. On 15th of March, i received unprotected oral sex around 15 minutes from 2 unknown girls from pub in Myanmar. My question is if the girls have any cut or crack on her teeth or gums or whether she is infected with any disease or HIV. She sucked my naked penis without condom. How is the risk of getting HIV transmitted?

a) Is it even a little bit of blood in saliva is sufficient to transmit HIV virus to me if i got unprotected blow job from
this girl? Can Salive kilss HIV ?
b) The result of HIV I & II AB (BY Elisa) test i done on 15th April is nonreactive (which is after 30days of
exposure), is it consider i'm free from HIV affected? Is the result is conclusive? Should i test again next 2
   months?
c) As i found from the web, some experts said only 3 months anti-body test negative is consider conclusive.
Are these information correct? So far got any result turn to positive after 3 months although the result is negative
when test on 1 month after exposure?

Thank you for clearing my doubts...

Welcome to our Forum. I'll try to help.  There is no meaningful risk to you for HIV from the experience that you describe.  You do not know that these women had HIV and it is statistically unlikely that they did.  Even if they did, there has never been a case of HIV proven to have been transmitted to a person receiving oral sex.  This is true even if one or both of the women had cuts or sores on their lips or bad teeth and gums.

HIV antibody tests performed 4 weeks after and exposure will detect over 90% of recent infections but not all.  At 8 weeks, standard HIV antibody tests reliably detect all recent infections.  the recommendation that HIV test results are not completely reliable until 3 months (12 weeks) after an exposure is out of date and excessively conservative.  As I said above, you can rely on your test results when you are 8 weeks beyond the time of your exposure.

I hope this comment is helpful.  EWH

Last answer.  Correct.  A negative HIV test at 60 days is definitive proof that you did not get HIV.  There is no need for further testing.

Hi. Dr. Edward W Hook

I just go for ELISA test (third generation) after 60 days of exposure and the result is non-reactive.

If based on your explanation, i should consider the test result is conclusive and move on, right? But I'm still feel worry because my doctor said the result after 60days is not conclusive and have to keep on testing at least 1 year. It make me feel very bad. I need your professional advice on this.

Hope to hear from you very soon.

Thank you very much

Thank you for your patient explanation.

I feel more relief now and i'll go to test again on 8 weeks & 12 weeks just to make sure the result is conclusive.

Thank again, Dr EWH.

Brief answers to your questions:

a) Can i know more about  HIV I & II AB (BY Elisa) test that i've done after
    4 weeks of exposure?
I do not understand this question.  I provided you with the performace statistics for ELISA tests at 4,8 and 12 weeks. All such test s perform similarly.  Nothing more to say.

b) So far got any cases or posibilities the result turn into positive after 3
months although the result is negative when test on 1 month after
    exposure by ELISA test?
Read my original answer.  Obviously, if 4 week results were 100% sensitve, I would have said so.  I said that at 4 weeks HIV antibody tests detect over 90% of recent infections.

c) Can saliva kills HIV? If it can kills HIV, is it this is the main reason HIV is
very hard to transmit thru unprotected oral sex?
Among the many reasons that  your exposure was no risk is that saliva has many substances which are toxic for HIV and when HIV is present, it is present in low concentrations.

Please no more of these repetitive questions. EWH
