Risk Estimate

Thank you in avance for you help.

The last couple of years I have engaged  in a number of encounters with strippers(relatively expensive ones should that make a difference.  I was hoping my HIV risk could be assese as I am now ready to put that chapter of my life behind me and settle down.

1) I  had two handjobs-I know generally not an std risk but these two involved spit as lubricant

2) One concurrent encounter of cunnulingus.

3)  One encounter of protected sex

4) one incident involving unprotected contact(my main source of concern)-penetratinon was brief but present-it was short but did occur.

I know relatively little about the vectors of STD and HIV transmission-I would appreciate an accurate appraisal of risk given my explication of circumstances- as I aid I'm ready to settle down and place this chapter of life behind me but would like to know what amount of damage I have already likely to done to myself.

Hello Doctor,

Thank you for your prompt followup, and accolades on the excellent service you provide. If I may be allowed one single followup question:  I believe I may have posted to the wrong HIV forum in the first place(I'm not international).  For this, I apologize.  My only followup question is: in the case of scenario #4,  would the presence of very mild penile dermatitis affect the liklihood of HIV transmission in a significant way?  I don't have any reason to suspect an HIV infection on her part, other than her occupation, but you certainly can never be too safe from a medical perspective.

Hello,
Thank you very much for your post and welcome to our forum.
I will outline any possible risks relating to each sexual encounter here as follows:

1) I  had two handjobs-I know generally not an std risk but these two involved spit as lubricant

NO RISK AT ALL EVEN IF SPIT WAS USED.  SALIVA DOES NOT CARRY THESE INFECTIONS.

2) One concurrent encounter of cunnulingus.

MAIN RISKS HERE WOULD BE THROAT CHLAMYDIA AND GONORRHOEA, SYPHILIS AND HERPES.  NO REAL RISK OF HIV OR ANY OTHER BLOOD BORNE VIRAL INFECTIONS.  YOU CAN HAVE A THROAT SWAB FOR THE FIRST TWO AND A BLOOD TEST FOR SYPHILIS.  IF YOU HAVE NOT DEVELOPED ANY SYMPTOMS OF LABIAL/MOUTH HERPES IN THE FORM OF PAINFUL BLISTERS WITHIN 3 MONTHS OF THAT ENCOUNTER, THEN WE CAN CONCLUDE THAT YOU HAVE NOT BEEN INFECTED. NO OTHER TESTS REQUIRED.

3)  One encounter of protected sex

IF IT WAS PROTECTED, IT WAS SAFE.  NO RISKS.  NO NEED TO WORRY OR TO HAVE ANY TESTS.

4) one incident involving unprotected contact(my main source of concern)-penetratinon was brief but present-it was short but did occur.

OBVIOUSLY THIS IS THE ONE THAT YOU MAINLY NEED TO BE TESTED FOR AND A FULL STD SCREENING, INCLUDING HIV, IS WARRANTED AND I WOULD STRONGLY ADVISED YOU TO DO SO.  ONCE DONE AT CORRECT TIMES, IF ALL NEGATIVE, YOU CAN FORGET ABOUT IT AND MOVE ON.

Best wishes,
Dr José
