RIAK OF HIV

Risk of HIV
by tank912, 26 minutes ago
3 weeks ago I went with a sex worker and had protected oral and vaginal sex. I do not recall the condom breaking in any way. She also gave me a love bite around my nipples - I did not see any blood or cut on me but one tiny opening of skin I could see after. She also gave me some closed mouth kisses and one open mouth kiss where we touched tongues and she sucked my lip as she withdrew her mouth. I suffer from ulcers and bleeding gums. 2 and a half weeks later I have a sore throat and swelling around my throat _ I am scared this is HIV symptons as the internet is full of sore throats and throat swelling as a sign of HIV and the coincidence of my contracting a sore throat and swelling at this time seem to much so I can only presume it is HIV symptons

I do not have any other symptons eg rash or fever etc

I want a test but believe I have to wait 12 weeks to be sure

Any advice would be appreciated as I am so ill with worry at the moment and can not eat without feeling sick

Hi

The sore throat and swollen glands (which i have not had for over 30 years) are too much of a coincidence so it must be hiv symptons as it is the 2-4 weeks period also - it all points to hiv as the chances of me suddenly having rare swollen glands and sore throat is minimal.

I am not sure how long the doc takes to answer on here but I have paid for a response

Hi Tank

Final on this ok.

You said:-

You're being silly. You have a sore throat - end of. You have guilt, anxiety and a sore throat. You do not have HIV.

I think you have symptoms of imagination...I bet you,If you keep torturing you like this you will get fever...another symptom and again you will not eat food as usual due to tension and you will loose weight and you will say you have yet another symptoms.

It seems you are scared of DEATH,This is the main reason of all your anxiety.Just be bold.DEATH is only TRUTH on this earth. All have to die.And in your case there is NIL probability of HIV infection.

Hi Tank,

I can see that you are one of life's natural optimists (not!!).

You are not at risk of HIV from this - not at all. The kissing is completely innocent and irrelevant in terms of HIV spread - absolutely no risk. I had a sore throat and glands two weeks ago - I don't have HIV - I just had a sore throat.

It is possible you picked up a sore throat bug from the lady but not HIV. You're ok.

You can have a very reliable test at between 4 and 6 weeks. If you have a 4th generation combined HIV 1 and 2 antibody and p24 antigen test at 4 weeks then this will rule out HIV. Alternatively, you can have a modern third generation test at 6 weeks such as the excellent INSTI HIV test and this will give you greater than 99% certainty at that point.

Best wishes, Sean

No, need to worry...I think you are torturing yourself with negative thoughts....Probability is negligible. And if you think that way even condoms does not provide 100 percent protection against HIV...And if you worry you will loss weight due to tension and again you will write you loose weight another symptom of HIV.

And the probability of dying in a car accident is 1000 times higher.I am not a doctor,I can understand your feelings because I have passed through similar dilemma
