Hello Dr,
I have read a number of posts both under the Prevention and International Forum. I am just a little confused and that has led me to ask my question. My circumstance, i am hetro male, uncirc** who received unprotected oral from a chinese SW for approximately 10 secs before asking her to stop. Asked re her status to which she replied she is clear. Did not notice any sores around her mouth, no sores on my p* that were visible and no blood on/around/in her mouth.
This was approximately 12 days ago. I have been struggling with what i believe are anxiety related symptoms for the past few days. Aching joints, slight burning throat, burning tongue with a small ulcer and struggling to sleep.
It finally got the better of me and i want for a duo test. I have the following questions.
1. I am aware that a 28 day duo test is considered relatively conclusive. How much weight would you place on a Duo test done after 12 days?
2. I have read that the Duo test is best taken between day 9 - 27 is that correct?
3. What are my chances of infection if she was infected?
4. Hoping for a negative result when would you test again in my situation?
5. Why is there a difference betwen the Prevention & International forums re Oral sex? Prevention states there is a small risk and International states Nil. Short explanation would alleviate some anxiety for me i feel?

I think all Docs here will tell you what they tell others on this forum. You really don't need a test. The American doctors also state that despite caring for patients since the beginning of the epidemic they've never seen anyone get it that way, or seen any good scientific data on the subject. The European doctors say similar things on this forum. Also saliva does not even infect. You didn't do anything risky, mate, try to relax before your head makes your anxiety snowball.

1. As stated I had p24/antibody at day 12. Whilst you say this bears no wight would you say it is still a good result. Ie I am sure that that test would at that time pick up a percentage of infections?
Some - but there is no data on this so I can't give you a meaningful answer. If the test was positive that would be distressing but helpful as in that case it is unlikely to be a false positive - a negative test result is meanigless at this point I'm afraid except to say that you did not have a pre-exisiting infection.
2. I am thinking about getting tested on tuesday which will be day 25. (Can't wait til 28 as travelling). Is there any medical reason to do this or am I justfuelling/feeding anxiety?
No medical reason - I've already told you that you will not be HIV positive from this exposure.
3. You stated there is a slight chance if you were sucking and recvd (above answer). I was sucked by fem. Why does the same not apply if she was recently infected and had a high viral load in her mouth etc coupled with a viral std? Perhaps a short explanation would really help me here?
I've answered this already - there are no recorded or documented cases relating to this scenario. You may want to speculate about it but the simple fact is that it does not happen.

NONE AT ALL - BUT, THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT YOU DID NOT NEED ONE ANYWAY - YOU WILL NOT HAVE BEEN EXPOSED TO HIV THIS WAY

You are asking Dr. Sean to repeat himself. He has already advised you 2x's that you had no risk for HIV. What more do you want him to tell you?
All this other stuff about testing and time frames is really useless based on the fact that you had no risk.
I think it is time to seek a therapist to help you deal with the guilt and anxiety you have from this situation. Because this is what is driving you to ask these questions.

I apologise in advance for my final question but i am completely scared out of my mind and i Really need your help!!
Facts: Exposure as above - 5-10 secs of unprotected oral (receiving) from f Chinese sex worker.
Tested @12 days - antigen & Antibody - Neg.
I believed your advice and the test result and put this down to bad judgement. Got on with life including being intimate with my wife. As soon as i had done this i completely had a massive attack of the guilts and could not believe my irresponsible behaviour despite you statiing i did not have a big risk.
Retested @ day 26 - antigen & antibody - Neg.
Retested @ day 38 - Antibody only - Neg
Retested day 39 - antigen & antibody (awaiting results.)
My extreme concern is that 19 days after i was intimate with my wife she awoke in the middle of the night extremely hot, and vomitted. Sore throat the next day which has continued for the past three days and she is complaining that it is painful to swallow and that her tongue is sore. Slight yellowish discolouration of her tongue at the back and slight swollen gland in r side of neck.
I have also developed bad diahrea. (maybe anxiety)
I need to know how conclusive my test reults are given the days in which they have been carried out. Is a Ag/Ab test at 26 days reliable?
Have i given my wife HIV? Her syptoms appear to be text book and right within the time frame according to Prevention forum?
How reliable is an antibody test at 38 days?
How reliable will my Ag/Ab test be done at 39 days when i get the results? (Wednesday)
I would really appreciate a timely response for these questions!

My anxiety and worry really has taken me to a terrible place. I read what u wrote and believed what you said. So much so that after my 12 day test results and ur advice abt a no risk situation I reengaged with my wife. I am now completely stressed and am looking for symptoms!
