Hello Doctor.

My fiance and I are having some concerning issues  Prior to meeting my fiance 3 years ago I had a sexual encounter at my university in ohio. It was a one time act of unprotected oral and vaginal sex with a female. I was 20 at the time now I am 24 . it just over 3 years ago. After this occured I had a rash on my penis, and anothe rweek went by became very ill. ( this was 3 and 4 weeks after this event) .white spots on my tonsils, cough, low grade fever, conjuctivitis, pain after ejaculation ect. I was ill for several weeks and eventually got better.tested many times actually a whole bunch. around 20 times I believe. 10 weeks after this I got a undetectable viral load.continued to test every few months. It is now 3 yearspast and 09/07/2010 I got another EIA from my university that was non-reactive. it was a veindraw and was for HIV1/2 .

Troubled symptoms:
Feeling of getting pricked in my feet by a needle comes and goes, swollen nodes behind ears, under arms, and anterior cervical chain, red spots in mouth coming and going pain in lymphnodes every now and the....... after testing for about 6 months I met my now fiance, we both tested and then when engaged we begain haveing intercourse, 2 years past and now she just came to me with a few swollen lymphnodes in her cervical region. they are painful to touch for her, I am worried that I had contracted HIV from this exspouser 3 years ago before I met my fiance and have given this to her. After 3 years I justed tested non-reactive again on the 09/07/2010. Is there anyway this can still be HIV ? .. please look at this artical these are 2 people who took 15 and 18 years so seroconvert

inorder to create antibodies is this in response to ARS? would you test positive after experiencing ARS? Or before developing antibodies does the antibody have to come in contact with the virus? would a low viral load delay antibody producion?

Hello Doctor:

Thank you for your reply I greatly appreciate it. This will be my last post however, I just have a few more questions:

First: if this inital illness I had 3 years ago was infact HIV seroconversion wouldent that mean I would have tested positive years ago? When the initial illness takes place and symptoms go away isnt this due to antibody production?

I know the undetectable viral load past 10 weeks was great sign three years ago however I also know that elite controllers can also have a undetectable viral load without medical treatment...... My question is I was symptomatic due to HIV then these symptoms wuld be caused from a High viral load correct? so with that negative and all other tests it is almost impossiable for this to still be HIV but myself testing negative correct?

Would you agree that my fiances and my on going symptoms are due to something else?Lastly I have read in the scientific literature that a small group of people can actually NEVER develop antibodies...... Do you have any comments for that?

Thank you for your time and that will be my last comments after your final thoughts

Thanks so much

Hello

This thread http://pozguys.tribe.net/thread/9e3db7d8-7578-471a-97d0-2ff45864feb4

whilst unfortunate is irrelevant to you. The post is unclear but seems to suggest to me that there was not a delay in seroconversion, but in terms of the testing - ie the patient Jaymal seems not to have tested for a prolonged period. This has nothing to do with seroconversion. He describes an advanced AIDS syndrome at a prolonged interval.

In your case, you had sophisticated testing performed including a viral load and what sounds like a modern antibody test. The recent Association of Public Health Laboratories / CDC document HIV: 2009 Diagnostic Survey indicates an almost overwhelming switch in the last 5 years in the US to using modern testing methods with a general minimu standard of 3rd generation testing.

You did better than that with a likely 3rd generation antibody test and an HIV viral load test. Both were negative. You are HIV negative.

I don't know about the other symptoms and suggest you see a good general physician to discuss them. The symptoms are irrelavant in terms of HIV given the negative HIV tests.

best wishes, Sean

Hello Doctors:

Is anyone there that would be able to answer the above questions in detail?
It is the swollen lymphnodes and the prickling feeling im getting in my feet and sometimes in my hands that makes me feel there is still a chance that this could eb HIV....... Ive tested negative ou rto 3 years.... but now my fiance came to me with swollen nodes also. theyre not going down
Thank you for your time
