why swollen lymph nodes in neck an weight loss?

I have chronic sinus for past several years. The doctor would put me on antibiotics everytime the sinus comes back. Last month 12/18/10 doctor decided to put me on longer dose of antibiotics (AMOX-CLAV 875MG for 21 days and Methylprednisolone 4mg dospak 21's for 7 days). While I was on these prescription on 12/25 I had protected sex with girl I work with. She also perform unprotected oral on me and we deep kiss a lot.(she said she had several partners, but is clean and few years back she had chlamydia). Now I am worried because since last 10 days around my neck  below my chin and back of my neck both side is bothering. The pain comes and goes. I believe they are lymph. I have also lost 5 lbs during this time. I did feel mild back pain just a few times, but not any major bothersome. My head did feel worm but I believe no fever. I can also feel right side the arm muscle pulse every few minutes. I do fell out of breath when doing something. Could it be HIV or is there any side effect to the medication I took? Is it STD? If it was STD would it be cure since at the same time I was taking antibiotics? I never felt pain like this around my neck. since It happen 3 weeks into my contact with the girl, it worries me. I was also taking NASAL spray and doing sinus rinse twice daily. I have ENT appointment next week, But can't wait and can't concentrate on work or at home with my family. Your detail reply to my situation will be appreciated.

Dear Jack,

I think HIV is an impossibility from the encounter you describe. There is no reason to belive that she was HIV positive in the first place; even if she was you had protected sex; being sucked will NOT expose you to HIV infection.

You clearly have a situation with sinuses and so on and I am very sure that your ENT doctor is looking after you correctly. It seems extremely likely to me that your neck symptoms etc are related to that.

I think HIV is completely impossible in these circumstances.

very best regards, Sean

Morning Jack...as Sean has said, HIV is simply impossible in the circumstances you have outlined....but, HIV is generally not detected by antibody testing at 2 weeks. It may be by using combined methods of antibody and also p24 antigen in a fourth generation HIV DUO test or will be using a PCR RNA test......but not reliably by antibody testing alone.Mervyn

Thanks for your reply. I just had all HIV and STD test come negative at 2weeks. I understand I have no riskof infection. But I was wondering how effective is the test at 2 weeks. Do most people detect HIV by 2 weeks or not?
