Rare case ...

Hi Dr;
I value Your job.
My story ;
About 2 years ago, I had an exposure with a girl in south east of Asia, after that that girl disappear and I could not find her to test for HIV.
exactly 2 weeks after that unsafe exposure ,I developed all the single symptoms like ;1-Shivering for 5 nights,2-became so weak 3- white thick coated tongue 4-headache 5- upset stomach 6-losing weight 7-low white blood cell ( below the border),SORE THROAT...
I had sex with my girl friend without knowing it could be HIV, and she developed the same symptoms in less than 1 month, beside that she lost almost 10 kg in 1 month.

after 2 years I have time to time headache, jolting my muscles(sometimes it is hard and muscles shaking)low blood cell ,some red dots appear in my mouth and disappear and  kind of scratches ,so weak like could not any sport as i feel so tired ,my eyes become reddish and I feel so tired of doing some job that I used to do them without feeling tired , time to time upset stomach ,my CHEST is painful.
My gf also got irregular period habit, headache, tiredness, still losing weight, also both of diagnosed with Mycoplasama 2 months ago, after coughing nonstop.
I have done HIV tests for almost 10 times, like RNA ,ELISA, and western blot all negative, the latest one was in USA that was based on HIV 1/O/2 Abs -ICMA(negative), My gf done few testes including 1,2and o strain. We also test for some other STDs
Q:
1- Is there any other disease could cause all these symptoms or not? If yes please name them.
2-I am sure that all these symptoms is not because of stress as even before I knew it could be HIV we developed symptoms. What do you think?
3-what other SDT could transfer between me and my GF and got the same symptoms as HIV?
4-Would you please name  center in USA that test for reliable and FDA proved or buying rapid test for home?
5-Mycoplasam is one of the sign of HIV!
6-why we both got same problem?
7-Why Nonstop symtoms?

Welcome to the Forum. Before I answer your specific questions, please allow me to tell you the most important part of my reply.  You do not have HIV.  Before you were tested the chance that you had gotten HIV was very low and now that you have been tested repeatedly, you should be perfectly clear that you do not have HIV. further worries and concerns are a waste of time.

First, it is unlikely that you partner two years ago had HIV.  If she did, it is unlikely that you got it from her.  Your test results are definitive at this time and prove that you do not have HIV.  I suspect that you may have caught some sort of non-HIV, non-STD viral infection shortly after your exposure two years ago and may have transmitted that to your girlfriend.

In answer to your specific questions:
1.  All sorts of viral infection could cause the symptoms you describe.  Named ones include hepatitis and mononucleosis.  There are many un-named ones as well.
2.  While your symptoms may not be related to stress, stress can make them worse.  Sometimes after an exposure that, in retrospect, one wishes they had not had, persons tend to examine themselves and be far more attuned to genital sensations than in periods when they are not concerned.  This in turns leads to noticing what turn out to be normal sensations that might have been not noticed or ignored at other times.  Perhaps this was a contributor to your situation.
3.  You have been tested. There is no reason for you to worry about other STD.
4.  Any health department in the U.S. or doctors office can provide reliable, FDA approved testing.  We do not recommend specific clinics or health care providers.
5.  No, mycoplasma is not a sign of HIV.  Many normal people have and acquire mycoplasma infections.
6.  See above.  You may have passed something to her.  It was not likely to be HIV or any STD however.
7.  See above.  Anxiety may make them worse.

Hope this helps. If you are having continuing problems you should see a trained health care provider who can examine you and test you if needed.  This is not HIV.  EWH

Dr I do trust what u told me, but I can’t understand why all websites and Doctors have got some wired attitude about symptoms that is simply ignore all!!  Why should we ignore symptoms and divert them to some unknown disease that nobody can name one of them? Maybe our symptoms (me& girl friend) are from some unknown strain? Or maybe as we have had unprotected sex we have formed some kind of undetectable strain.
I don’t want to interfere in your job but how do you justify my current chest pain, weakness, tiredness and low blood cell as well as my GF losing weight?
How long more should I tolerate all these annoying symptoms??
Thanks a lot for your concern.

I understand your frustration.  At the same time, to attribute your symptoms to one of the best studied of all infections in the history of mankind, for which there are better tests than nearly all other infectious diseases is not only illogical but it prevents you from working with your own doctors who can perform a complete history and physical examination and consider a broad range of possible causes for the symptoms you describe.  Maybe your symptoms are due to some new, previously undescribe strain of HIV that no one has ever describe before but the chance of that is vanishingly rare.  Please work with your doctor to address this problem.  I wish you all the luck in the world.

I  have nothing more to say.  eWH
