Dr.
My OraQuick test was done at 84 days (12 weeks) post exposure. Does this make my chances worse?
OH and Dr...My test was a NEGATIVE at 84 days or 12 weeks.
Thank you
You don't have HIV, and do not need further testing. Here are the reasons why:
1. Your partner said he was negative. I would believe him, most people tell the truth (I would also advise you not to have sex with people who you don't ask and don't believe).
2. If he was infected (unlikely) your major risk is the unprotected rectal exposure. That risk, had he been infected is 1 in 100 exposures. Again, the numbers are on your side.
3. You had a negative, reliable test at 94 days (13+ weeks). This too is reliable.
Putting these 3 facts together, I can tell you that you can be confident that you did not get HIV from the single exposure you describe. No further testing is needed. Hope this helps. Time for you to move forward. EWH
