I am at Risk?

Doctors,

I am 37 male. 11 days ago I had a sexual encounter with a prostitute, since then I am anxious if I am at risk of HIV.

These are the activities that took place:

1. Kissing, I am pretty sure some saliva was exchanged..I later found out that I had on my tongue..fresh from using a tongue cleaner 1 hour prior to this encounter.

2. she is lactating, I swallowed some of her milk.

3.Condom Protected Blowjob...and she licked my balls for about a minute. I am concerned what if i had a cut...sometimes I get cuts from shaving pubic hair on testicles.

4.Condom Protected Vaginal Sex

Should I get tested for HIV? Should I tested for any other STD s? If so, How soon?

I very much appreciate your response.

Thanks

Welcome to our Forum.  I'll be happy to comment and presume that you will be happy when I tell you that the activities that you describe did not place you at any risk for HIV at all and that your risk for other STIs is so low that there really is no medical reason for testing.   It is statistically unlikely that your partner, even though she is a CSW, has HIV or any other STI - it is bad for business.  Even if she did however, the activities you describe are no risk.

HIV has been shown to be present in the saliva of infected persons in very low quantities. The very low amount of HIV present, combined with the many antibodies, enzymes and antimicrobial substances present in saliva however make it non-infectious.  Thus there is no risk for HIV from kissing of any sort (even with exchange of saliva), from receipt of oral sex (even if unprotected and you used a condom), or from being licked anywhere by an infected person.  There are no cases in which HIV transmission has been shown to occur as a result of receipt of oral sex.  That you might have had a minor cut on your tonue or on your scrotum from past shaving does not change this.

Ingestion of food or breast milk which may have been contaminated with HIV is not a risk for infection is adults either.

The risk for other STIs from this exposure is similarly low and should not worry you.  There is no medical need for testing related to this exposure.

I hope these comments are helpful to you. EWH

Doc,

One more anxiety driven question.

after the brief protected vaginal sex, while removing the condom, I think i touched my penis (head). masturbated and later i ejaculated on her breasts.

I understand that HIV doesn't survive outside the body for long. but the touching occurred soon.

Is there a HIV Risk involved here?

Please answer. My last question, I promise.

I am such an anxious and irrational person. After reading so much about HIV, I started doubting some of my past exposures, all of them protected, but what if questions were killing me.

So, today I got myself tested with oraquick home test and the result is negative.

This is just a note to my self to not panic, feel free to comment or delete this. Thanks

Dr. Hook:

Thank you so much for your answer. your answer comforted me.

However I an anxious person to start with, I request you to please don't mind and clarify a little bit.

I understand that Breast milk ingestion is not a problem in adults,

Q ) However I am concerned about her breast milk and saliva coming in contact with the cut on my tongue. Are you saying this is a NO risk for HIV?

Please respond..and thank you for your patience.
