Possible exposure from electric razor

Hi,

The other day I used the electric razor of of a HIV positive individual. I was not thinking. I was wondering if there is a  risk of catching HIV this way, and if I should get tested. Thank you.

Thank you DR. Last question, I promise....

Could I get hepatitis or any other disease through electric razor sharing?

Thanks again. I wouldn't be asking all these questions, but I can't seem to find any exact answer on the internet.

These will be the last answers.

1.  STDs are not spread by shearing a person's electric razor.

2.  Injection is the major way that HIV is spread other than sex.

3.  There are no reports of HIV being spread through use of an infected person's razor.

Hello,

Thanks for the response. Am I at risk of catching any diseases? When you say injection of the virus deep into the tissue, are you talking about using needles?

Also, just out of curiosity.... Would I be at risk of catching HIV if I used the shaving razor blade of a HIV positive individual?

Thanks Again!

Welcome to our Forum.  This was a no risk event.  HIV is spread through exchange of genital secretions during sex or injection of the virus deep into tissue.  Casual contact such as this does not put you at risk for HIV. there is no reason for concern and no need for testing.  Take care.  EWH

I forgot to mention that the area I used the electric razor on had a few red bumps and some open cuts.
Thank you.
