Was my test a Duo/combo/4th Gen?

Hi All,

Firstly thanks for all your great work on this website. You have helped me very much. I don't think the details of my non-existent risk are necessary hehe.

But I had two tests.. the print off I got from the drs reads like this: Could someone please confirm if they are Duo/Combo/4th Gen. I know it states Combo but hence my name... I would love some confirmation :)

Name of Test: HIV ANTIBODY TESTING

HUMAN IMMUNODEFICIENCY VIRUS (HIV) ANTIBODY/ANTIGEN COMBO (SERUM)

Not Detected (by Siemens Centaur HIV-1 and HIV-2)

Name of Test: HIV ANTIBODY TESTING

HUMAN IMMUNODEFICIENCY VIRUS (HIV) ANTIBODY/ANTIGEN COMBO (SERUM)

Not Detected (by Abbott Architect HIV-1 and HIV-2)

Thanks

Irrational :)

They are two different tests from two weeks apart. The only confusing bit to me is that they are both have a test name of antibody test yet in the notes is says antibody/antigen combo. I would have thought that the name would be combo test...truth be told I had no risk(lap dance..then got penile thrush and drew irrational conclusions) just wanted to confirm the tests I had were both combo tests...l lets call it curiosity.  Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

The wording test resport says that both a combo test ("HUMAN IMMUNODEFICIENCY VIRUS (HIV) ANTIBODY/ANTIGEN COMBO (SERUM)", the Siemens Centaur test) and a standalone antibody test ("HIV ANTIBODY TESTING", the Abbott Architect test) were done.  All results were negative.  You could confirm this, of course, by telephoning the doctor's office or laboratory where the test was done (and could have saved the posting fee on MedHelp!).
