I would not bother to take even a little PEP at this time. I estimate that your risk for infection is less than 1 in 10,000. EWH
Thanks Dr Hook.
I'm not in PEP treatment anymore. The drugs are left because i was given 30 days drugs and i just took 22 days. But this was months ago.
Do you recomend me to take this 8 days drugs based on this episode i discribed?
And when you say theoretically, it means very low? lower than 1 in 10.000?
Thanks a lot again.
Welcome back to the Forum. The exposure you describe is rather low risk but not no risk. Most women do not have STDs and most exposures do not lead to infection. In addition, that your penetration was brief also makes infection unlikely. There are no studies on this subject but common sense tells us that the longer and exposure to an infected partner, the more likely it is that transmission will occur.
1) is there any theoretical chance to get HIV doing vaginal penetration for about 10 seconds?
Yes, theoretically. Practically however, this really should not concern you.
2) i still have PEP drugs for 8 days treatment left from an condom break episode of months ago. Would you recomend me to that this drugs? Would only 8 days treatment help reduce chances of getting HIV anyhow?
If you are still taking the PEP you started previously, this too should further reduce any theoretical risk for infection. I see no reason to take the PEP longer however. No one knows just how long PEP is needed to be effective.
3)would you recomend me HIV testing? When?
Again, the risk is low. You should already be scheduled for HIV testing in follow-up to your PEP. this should be enough testing related to this exposure.
4) regarding hiv, can i have unprotected sex with girlfriend without worry of contamine her? What about others STDs? '
I would not worry, either about HIV or about other STDs.
I hope these comments are helpful. EWH
