2 year old's heartbeat

My 2 year old just woke up from his sleep with a slight fever and seemed to be in a lot of pain when i gave him something to drink.  While holding him i noticed that his heart felt a bit fast so i timed it for 15 seconds.  In 15 seconds i counted 43 beats.  Is that normal?  Should I be concerned?

I think this is slightly elevated, the pulse in this age group should be in the 120s at rest. But, he has a fever and possibly hypovolemia so this is the most likely reason why he is more tachycardic than usual. He also may need medical care in the form of antibiotics, and/ or volume repletion. I would definitely let you doctor know about the condition of your son.
