It is basically a normal result. There really isn't anything substantial in these results that would point towards a specific disease process such as POTS or IST or vasovagal syncope. If you are highly symptomatic the approach to therapy is basically the same regardless of the disease process. I would suggest compression stalkings, salt loading, SSRIs and/or sympathomimetic beta blockers.
Thank you for your input. I am actually on all of that and have been for quite some time (the beta blocker - my primary doctor even upd my dose of topril to 100 mg. I also use compression stockings and salt intake. It is ironic that you should mention that. I really appreciate your help on this. I have been worried, as I do once in awhile have severe chest pain that incompasitates (spelling) me for what can several minutes or just several seconds. This whole time I was not worried about it thinking my heart is fine, that it is just my neck area/ brain area to be worried about....then my grandpa just weeks ago started having heart problems (and an aneurysm - heart area) and so on.
But basically I really don't have anything but Tachycardia, right? Thanks so much for your help :)
Some patients also benefit from an ablation procedure where the sinus node is modified if the disease process is suggestive of inappropriate sinus tachycardia (IST). This is a last resort type of approach and should only be applied in situations where the above mentioned measures have failed. This is not an easy set of symptoms to treat. Hope this helps.
Does this mean I have POTS? They didn't tell me my results at the time of the appt but now I wondered why the nurse asked me if I knew anything about it (and she never explained it) but the rhuematologist mentioned it to me a tiny bit, but still I don't know much about it.
p.s. I have a ton of symptoms (a few including: headaches (thought to be from my arnold chiari malformation), lightheadedness, dizziness, a TON of neck pain, shoulder pain, heart feels like it is coming out of my chest, fast beating heart (not too high but can go from 140 - 180) low blood pressure when standing and so on. I am a woman who is 36 will be 37 in a few weeks. I get numbness/tingling in my face feet and hands & sweating on my hands & feet. Long story but it goes on. I am tired and I do try to walk but I get numbness in my legs (esp my left leg) it is weird.
