I thought maybe that scarred my heart in some way?  Could that have scarred my heart in some way?

The problem is that there is not a good explanation as to why normal hearts get these extra beats.  Anything you find on the internet will be vague and you doctors will not have a direct answer.  There is just no way to know in most people.

Can you please also verify when I read about "occassional" palpiations if that would be one per hour or one per day or what?  I can't seem to find anything that actually defined it.

There is not a definition that deals with frequency.  Even in the patients that I see with great than 10,000 PVCs a day, if they don't have symptoms and they have a normal heart, the treatment is the same -- conservative medications and occasional echo's to very that the heart function is normal.

Also they told me that I have slight reguritation when I guess one of the valves does't close completely.  They said a lot of people in their 40's have it and not to worry.  Would that be considered MVP?

The test is very sensitive and picks up many clinic insignificant findings -- like mildly leaky valves.  A leaky mitral valve does not mean prolapse.  They will put prolapse in the report if you have prolapse.

Would the EP study show if my heart was scarred in some way?

No.  It just determines if there is an inducible arrhythmia.

Would it have found out if there was some sort of electrical problem in my heart?

All an ep study will tell you is if conduction is normal and if there are inducible arrhythmias.  If the first was negative, you have a normal EKG and a normal echo, I would not repeat the EP study.

I hope this answers your questions.  Thanks for posting.

I recently had an EP study and nothing could be induced.  They told me that was a good thing.  I have had PVC's and PAC's as long as I can remember but they caught a run of 6 PVC's in a row and wanted to do a study.

I am trying to figure out why I get these things and the only thing I can think of is when I was in my 20's that I had a REALLY bad bout of the flu (nothing like I have ever had before).  I thought maybe that scarred my heart in some way?  I also had inflammation of the lining of the heart at one point in my 20's from too much exercise and the doctor put me on something and it went away.  Could that have scarred my heart in some way?
