Am I really cured?

My doctor told me about 5 years ago that I was cured. But some of the symptoms are creeping back I'm tired and I look like I'm 9 months pregnant.  Can the dragon still be living?

One day you'll get old and die and ask....'can the dragon still be living?'

After the tx...barring the various things that can happen with jobs, family, etc, your body still continues to age. I lost a bunch of weight on tx....post tx...9 months later...right back to where I was.

All the 'cure' does is put you right back where you were. You can still get cancer, die in a car wreck, win the lottery, get struck by lightening and stub your toe.

Remember the line from 'Hamburger Hill', commonly said when something bad happened like a friend gettting killed...

"It don't mean nuthin'....don't mean a thing."

Meaning....it was what it was. It had no meaning beyond that.

But, to be on the safeside, if there is something that didn't exist before your tx that you have now, get it checked out but keep in mind, 5 years is 5 years. It is probably unrelated but that doesn't mean it doesn't require your attention.

Thing is, these are questions for your doctor, not us.

If you suspect HepC has returned then get another PCR test.
What are your ALTs, but the only way to tell if its back is to have another PCR test.
