Sorry about your Dad too. Yes, your right, that generation believed their drs could do no wrong. My father kept going to the quack about his swelling in his legs and arms and the dr dxed congestive heart failure. It wasn't the heart at all of course.
Hope you're feeling well post tx.

I'm so sorry about your dad.  Their generation trusted doctors blindly, and the docs acted like little gods.  My dad had pains in has abdominal area.  Doc prescribed expensive antacids, no better than Tums.  Dad took them and the pain persisted.  He figured if he took the pills for long enough, maybe they'd work.  Of course it was cancer, and too late to help by the time it was diagnosed.

Our generation won't let this happen to us, I hope.  At least those of us who are on-line finding out for ourselves about our ailments.  Knowledge is strength.

Not really whimsical at all. The meds we take are processed by the kidneys also. Our high carbohydrate, high fat content diets can lead to type ll diabetes. Diabetes contributes to many things, including end stage renal disease. (ESRD)
Diabetes is the number one cause of ESRD, with high blood pressure being next. My father is a dialysis patient, but not for either of those reasons. He was born with one kidney and it failed at the age of 80. His quack dr had been prescribing prescription strengh naproxen. All of the NSAIDs are processed thru the kidneys. (alleve, motrin ibuprofen etc.)
We have to be careful what we eat (avoid pet food) and what meds we take too.
