Does anyone remember this all but obscure movie with Kevin Cosner that was released in 1985? It is an after college, before the draft "Road Trip" movie taking place in 1971 in Southwest Texas. Unbeknownst to me, there is a big international cult following for this movie and last night, in my home town, Midland, TX, the 25th anniversary celebration began with a showing of Fandango at the local drive-in. So hubby and I tanked up on coffee and drove to the drive-in at 9:00 pm (my usual bed time is about then).

This morning the road trip begins. People have come from all over the states and europe -- well, not a lot of them, but they did come -- to take an 1100 mile trip through southwest texas -- to the Monahans sand dunes, to Pyote for the site of the parachute school, then on to Pecos, Toyah, Marfa, Alpine, and the dom rock overlooking the Rio Grand at the Colorado Bend.
Kind of a cool phenomenon. There were a few locals, but next to me they were from Ft Worth, and next to them, Dallas and next to them, the Netherlands. I had no idea. Are any of you fans?
