Energy

For those of you who have reached the lofty goal of SVR, does your energy return once the Hep C is gone? Just wondering how much of my forever tiredness is related to Hep C or the concomitant liver disease

Hope to TX and SVR while young enough to put the energy to good use! Looking forward to TX with Sofosbuvir soon, though having the interferon and Ribavirin along with it is a little discomforting. Did is before and will SD I it again.

It did for me, but I do believe there are several factors that make up energy - physical, mental, and aging.  I completed treatment in December 2012 - started a new high stress job in January and ran 2 half marathons within 4 months.  Then the job started falling apart and Texas was again in the middle of a drought, so the high from post tx and svr was replaced with figuring out the next steps in this 56 year old body.  I gained about 15 lbs and exercise became a little more spotty.  So now going back to School to finish a graduate degree, took a job in an industry I think will be more rewarding, and getting back to regular exercise.  Ran a half marathon 2 weeks ago in 28 degree weather - and hurt for 2 days.  Moral of the story?  Eat right, exercise moderately, get within normal weight for you, and put yourself in positive environments. Good attitude = energy (assuming there are no real physical limitations).  And that age thing - well it is just something in the background.

Good luck to you.

"My liver disease was at Stage 2. If one has more advanced liver disease, that may affect the fatigue and energy levels. "

Pooh said, more less, what I was going to say. If your liver isn't healthy, your energy won't return until it is.

Good luck and be patient. It takes time.

I was very fatigued before treatment. I had no energy whatsoever and every time I tried to do anything, I would last only a short time and then I had to rest. I was tired all of the time. My fatigue basically disappeared after treatment. I actually noticed a change towards the end of treatment but I was still on Interferon so I was not exactly energetic, LOL. After treatment ended, it took a while to get the meds out of my system and to get rid of the side effects, but I noticed a change in energy and fatigue levels even before the drugs were out of my system. In fact, the increase in energy level and the lack of fatigue after treatment made me pretty optimistic that the virus was gone.

I am 16 months post EOT and I feel very good. I basically have no fatigue other than some thghg fatigue which I think is due to the Sjogrens's Disease I have. But that overall generalized fatigue and no energy is completely gone. I have tons of energy now and I really don't get tired. I can now be on my feet all day and still feel fine. I feel like a new woman.

My liver disease was at Stage 2. If one has more advanced liver disease, that may affect the fatigue and energy levels.

Here's hoping your fatigue disappears too.
