I keep thinking how you were able to make yourself stay active and I admire how you were able to do it and would love to know how. I knew I was not going to be able to work out the way I did before treating but I just never thought I would *not* want to exercise.
I worked out when I took just the Peg & Riba so I did not think it would be that much of a challenge. The Incivek was a real game changer and I just can't seem to bounce back now that it is out of my system.
Anyway, I am seeing now just what effort it must have taken while you treated and my hat is off to you. Glad to hear you are easing back into your routine.
"I lost a lot of muscle mass during tx, but continued to ride on Sat/Sun about 25 miles at a much slower pace"
What?! How can this be? I'm not on tx and cannot imagine riding a bike for 25 miles. You are an incredible inspiration. I fully expect you to recover at breakneck speed, and can't wait for the SVR report!
congrats!! i'm so happy you're feeling good. let us know when you reach SVR. best wishes for a fantastic summer!! belle
Thanks for the update "D " and glad to hear you are doing well.
Excellent example of "living your life while treating". Look forward to your SVR announcement..

i thought i would be able to work 4 days a week and walk fast 4 miles most days while on tx...there were many times during my tx where i couldn't even talk at all...now 6 months post i'm getting ready for cardio...i've been working hard in construction lately...hope to be on my mt bike in a week...i really feel good now and feel lucky to have such a good recovery..one of my daughters runs a 26 mile sunday with loads of folks...its suppose to be sunny in the 70s i'm sure that will get me going!....another daughter is in ft myers where i do some biking...you must love the biking down there....good luck ...billy
Your post is really encouraging and inspiring. Just hearing over and over how people made it through the 48 weeks while remaining UND is enough for me. At week 19 my cardiovascular fitness is consistent though has declined in intensity. I am a little freaked because I am losing muscle and it is not because I am not strength training. It is the loss in strength I did not expect as this did not happen the first time I treated. That Incivek is a real game changer I tell you.
I think you are wise to monitor your TSH levels and not feel compelled to medicate for Hypo. This isn't based on anything scientific but I have a feeling that the longer you resume your normal activity that your thyroid just might fall in line. I am hoping mine does that is for sure!
Our paths never really cross so I just want to thank you for the experience and expertise you bring to the forum.
Good to hear Tri, I can just picture you peddling that trike just as fast as you could...:)
It's so great to hear my tx buddy doing well. Congrats on those 25 milers. Tell me when you're ready for the Ironman, I'll meet you on the Big Isle :)
You know I agree 100% about staying active. Though I don't ride, I do walk and did walk throughout tx except for a few days, usually the day after shot night.
The first doctor I talked to about my hep C, told me that our whole body needs exercise including our organs. If a healthy person, laid around for 24-48 weeks, they'd feel stiff and out of it too.
Post tx stats~ UND, normal blood work except for my low platelets but that's because of my spleen. ( It doesn't return to normal post tp)
Hair's growing in, skin feels good and yes, spicy yummy food.
There is life after tx !
