Need reassurance I guess

I'm new here. My husband, 55 y.o. has Hep C. Also, Seizure Disorder and has been on powerful drugs for that for over 30 years, which of coursed doesn't help the liver! Previously went through Interferon injections in the late 90's. He has cirrhosis of liver. Also, 2 weeks ago an ultrasound showed possible hemangioma of liver. CT scan ordered, showed 2 lesions, probable hepatocellular carcionoma rather than hemangioma, splenomegaly, portal hypertension and of course cirrhosis. Blood work showed platelet count of 76. Liver biopsy was ordered and was done just this past Friday. Now, we have to wait for the pathology reports, which will be either tomorrow or Tuesday. I'm just posting because I'm very worried. From everything that I am reading, the outlook for hepatocellular carcinoma is not good news. I am having a hard time waiting for the results. I know the only definitive answer is the biopsy results, but everything that I read pretty much states that CT scan is usually accurate. Can someone tell me I am wrong and that I have nothing to worry about please???

Yes, I think that waiting is hard. I also am worried about what the next steps will be. His HepC viral load was high (I don't know the numbers). If it is HCC will he be a candidate for Interferon therapy again, what stage is the HCC if it is, why are his platelets so low, how far advanced is the cirrhosis, and my list of questions goes on and on. Also, will he be a candidate for a liver transplant, I don't know the criteria for that. He can't stop the seizure meds, and those have most certainly contributed to cirrhosis along with the HepC. So many questions.

Thanks for listening and I will post what the results are after we know.

Waiting for test results is about as stressful as anything can be.  I hope the results are good.

Hepatocellular carcinoma is not good if it is detected late, but if detected early, the prognosis is much better.
