New drugs give hope

Last April I was fortunat enough to get into the ..abb vie...study I started on April 29th cleared virus by second week.Finished on July 22nd. Today I am still clear of the virus they say I am 99.999 % cleared. I go back march 31st for more blood work and ultra sound. I am hoping all will still be good ( after you clear the virus twice with the old drugs which I did and then relapsed well you are a bit leary) I have one more appt. in June that will but me at 48 weeks then I am done.
For me the new drugs han no side affects. I think that was pretty much the same for everyone in the study.
For everyone who has been waiting and waiting I hope this is it.
Some back ground on me I am now 62 yrs old have had the virus for about 40 yrs and I am cirrhotic.Even with cirrhosis I feel like I have been given a second chance my liver is no longer under attack. I exercise, don't drink
and try to eat clean. I know how this virus changes your life I hope this this gives everyone a little faith.
Take Care Hopeful51

Thanks for sharing your experience as so many of us have been there and are either waiting or starting these new DAA's soon. I am age 62 and cirrhotic as well been walking a fine line trying to stay compensated before treatment.

Do you still have to have MRIs, Ultra Sounds and CT scans every 6 months?.

Happy you found the cure.  Hope and pray you have lifelong SVR.  I too, have suffered through the hell of past treatments only to relapse.  Those with this diseases appreciate you coming back and continuing to share words of encouragement, giving us hope that we too will one day be cured.  Have my first blood draw tomorrow 2 weeks after starting treatment.  Hoping for good numbers.  Be well, enjoy you new found life. We are truly Blessed.
