OT PETA statistics

PETA isn't what it claims to be.

According to  official shelter reports filed with the Commonwealth of
Virginia (where  the PETA "shelter", if you want to call it that, is
located), PETA took in  2345 animals, of which 44 were adopted out,
2,200 were killed (euphemistic  word used in report is "euthanized"),
and 63 were transferred out of the  shelter. PETA's kill rate in 2010
was 93.81%.

Copies of Official  Commonwealth of Virginia reports here:

http://petakillsanimals.com/downloads/PetaKillsAnimals.pdf

Article  on PETA's record here (they haven't updated the article to
show the 2010  numbers yet, reports just came out)

http://www.petakillsanimals.com/

According to  the combined yearly totals (since 1998), PETA has taken
in 29,823 animals  into their "shelter", and killed 25,840 of these for
a kill rate of 85.1%  - a rate that I would suspect is among the
highest in the country (even  shelters in the deep South typically
don't have a kill rate above 60% if  that.)

And PETA is telling breeders, farmers, etc what they should be  doing??!!

Make sure these numbers get spread far and  wide!!!

The all American word of the century......GREED...........is going to be the downfall of many.

You have summed it up pretty well.  I just wish the word would get out to more people the true actions of PETA.  They do not help the homeless animals, they kill most of them.

Even if people read Deb's post on this forum, it is about greed and sneakyness (word?)

Just remember folks, if you do donate, donate to your local shelter and donate things not money.

This PETA group, like most radical elements in this world, including the "green movement", is simply about control and power. All this "green crap" will be used to tell you how to live, what you can do, where you can go. Oh yes, and of course, it's also about making a handful of filthy stinking rich people even more filthy stinking rich.
We should be responsible stewards of what is given to us. The earth is a gift to mankind, which should be used appropriately. It's not meant to be "a God" and worshipped.
I am a pet lover. My dog is like my child, and I've had them all my life. But to put them on a par with human life is going to far IMO. Get some perspective.

LOL, my poor old black lab would starve without me to take care of him. My boy is 14 years old, but the thinks he about 6 months old, so I never tell him otherwise, hehe.

:-)

Yah I agree. Spaying or neutering is a personal choice. Because some clown is irresponsible and allows their animal to run around, why should I have to pay for their ignorance? I take care of my animal, and I would NEVER have him neutered.

Robert, Peta wants to take away your right to OWN your dog.  And they do not want any breeding (even responsible) of purebred dogs.  If all dogs are spayed and neutered (as they want) there will some day be none, not anytime soon but still.

I won't even get started on HSUS

Please people all people, donate THINGS to your local rescues not money that way the animals benefit not the people running things.

Being as involved as I am in the dog world a lot of this stuff comes across my emails.

Also, go to your local SPCA and give directly.
Old newspapers, any old blankets etc.  This goes right to them.
My daughter worked at the Placer SPCA in her younger years.
I was actually going out and buying things , for her to take to the
SPCA !!! and...needless to say.....she was bringing home , dogs,
cats, etc..all the time.  Animals that no one would adopt.
Give directly to them, they need it.

It should be against the law, I had to bring her somewhere that had puppies that age so she could socialize, those back yard breeders were not my fave people, I wished so much that I could have taken the mother she was beautiful and such a good mother........
thanks, I really do love them.  they are family at its best.

Anyone that loves their fur babies and thinks PETA wants to help please read some of the links.

Mary, you did good buying the youngster and gave her a good home.  It is against the law selling dogs under the age of 8 weeks (at least in Pa)

Remember all give material donations and not money, money goes in pockets and doesn't help the animals.

At my home there is a question of who is the slave?  Sometimes I think I just keep up the house for the dogs, I also have a black pug mix, who has become the seeing eye dog for my senior.

I have a 19 yr. old shar pei / lab mix, had her since she was 51/2 wks. old. bought her from a back yard breeder with $$ in his eyes, to much beer, left mom (2 yrs. old ) out in heat.
anyway, she had 10 puppies, I got 1, saw another ad in the paper for more puppies the next yr., then I met someone who knew who bought the mom never spade her and she died giving birth to Irish Setters.  People are stupid and all we can do is the best we can bit by bit.
Thanks for the work you do.

Deb, almost no one realizes any of this.  They make all nicey, nicey but their agenda is to abolish all companion animals including your little lap dog.  I am going to keep this thread alive as long as I can!

THis is near and dear to my heart...........I like animals better than most people, and people that don't like pets puts up a giant red flag for me.  Something wrong with them

Here is a perfect site about animal rights vs animal welfare.

Perfect quote form Ingrid something or other and she is dead serious:::::

Ingrid Newkirk: National Director of PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals)
"Pet ownership is an absolutely abysmal situation brought about by human manipulation."  “Companion animals … are like slaves, even if well-kept slaves.”  “There is no hidden agenda … make no mistake, our goal is total animal liberation.”

Here some quotes from different animal rights organizations:
http://www.naiaonline.org/articles/archives/animalrightsquote.htm

People MUST keep in mind that there are rescues for every breed out there and they work their butts off fostering and evaluating unwanted animals.

Mary, did you read the articles?  They hide under the guise of doing good but the euthanise a lot.  Most of the monet that goes to PETA does not help animals, high paid staff, tons of advertising and more.

Their goal is to abolish any and all sports involving purebred dogs.

I have 6 shepherds and 3 are rescues and will live here till they cross over the "bridge".

My hubby just donated a tractor trailer portable step to a group that flies adoptees to their new destination.  (One of our companies patented & makes these steps). It is called "Operation Roger Truckers Pet Transport"  They were thrilled.  This is my idea of helping pets.   I have a 6 run kennel and at times 3 of those runs have rescues waiting for their forever homes.  I have found homes for approx 25.

Pet stores are "almost" always puppy mill pups :-{

There is so much violence and brutality in this world, as well as wonderful tender loving care.  I found PETA to be very radical, so I would be careful getting the facts straight with them, but, for the good they do, I appreciate it.  There are many local organizations that can be monitored and one can even volunteer, I just heard of one called Golden Paws, a rescue for elderly dogs.  Your right, donating supplies and time is wonderful.  I just bought my 19 yr. old dog a beautiful new bed w/ a removeable water proof top and when she goes I am giving it to the dog hospice in NM.  I wish I could do more>  I just pray people will wake up to their natural loving kindness and we wont have to pick up the pieces of ignorance.

Here is another wonderful article:

http://articles.sfgate.com/2005-06-23/opinion/17379611_1_peta-s-web-animal-cruelty-dead-animals

I have absolutely nothing against contributing to help the less fortunate animals out there BUT  PETA pays their execs and spokes people a whole lot of money not to mention all the TV ads, Billboards and other advertising.

I do know that HSUS uses some of their funds to directly help the animals.  They have a state of the art tractor trailer equipped with an operating room to do low cost spay & neuters, they also go in when their are hoarder or puppy mill situations with volunteers and paid staff (I'm sure) to evaluate pets and get them in foster.  Nor really sure if they have long term facilities.

Even the local shelters are known to misapproiate funds.  If anyone does donate it is better to send food, old towels & blankets, bleach, detergent, bleach, and gift cards.....Did I say bleach???  If items are donated or gift cards that stuff is (almost) guaranteed to be used appropriately.  (hopefully)

I won't even get into the "wonderful" spokesperson they have in Pamela Anderson........

I show purebred dogs and have been at shows where a PETA person went up & down aisles opening crate doors and let dogs out to jun the grounds looking for their Human. I am also a very good friend of a rescue person who kept 10 or so rescues for HSUS so I know that part is true but I still don't trust them.

Remember.......Items not cash is what will help the animals, cash lines the coffers of the executives involved.  Research and google if you so wish.

Denise......it is all for the animals or should be!!!
