a day in the clinic

Hi, just got home from my day in the clinic, attached to an IV for the hourly and then 2 hourly draws.  I got there at 7, they gave me breakfast (Jimmy Dean) (no coffee) then lunch after my 3rd draw, I had to have the same lunch I had last time.  they are real sticklers and everything seems to be going well with the study.  I am still und and hope to stay that way.  so  I dont have to go back for another month unless I have problems.
My hgb went down a bit still within normal, but went back up, platelets down a little still within normal.
My mom will be back in a couple of weeks, so that will be nice to have someone around who cares.
Love,
M

Sorry, if I scared you,  I'm glad I'm not having a transfusion either,  I'm pretty tired today, so I generously gave myself the day off to rest, and catch up from spending the day at the clinic, its a great place, but.  I dont think I'll be doing any of the intense study days for a while so I need to get on track to maintaining my work week.
They even warmed the room where they did the IV so that it was easier, they are so thoughtful..... I love them.... they care.

I just spent the day hooked to an IV.. my my. I thought you were having a transfusion or something for enemia :-o.  Well but a IV really does sound like the way to go..for all those blood draws. Anyways glad you are not having a transfusion and are doing well.  Im sure having your mother around will bring you much comfortl.
Your study sounds better and better all the time..They keep you in the know early, make the draws easier and they feed you too. WoW Mary that says it all. Take care Ginger.

Yeah, the IV was access, because they do a lot of draws, the clinic itself did very well with compliance and didn't receive any little black marks from the monitor, I am very impressed with their adherance.  It seems if anyone in the placebo arms does not do well will be offered the full study drugs and riba/peg to start over.
good luck on your labs, and I was thinking when Gilead finally does do a phase III wouldn't that be the one to get into?  Lets keep our fingers crossed on these drugs.
It will be nice to have mom back, she is my mom that in itself is a gift, but she will also take some of the pressure off with the dogs.  They tend to follow the pack leader around by the heels constantly.  I have one thats 18 and she needs to know where I am all the time.
nice to hear from you susan

Glad to hear that your doing well in your study.  Did they use IV access to administer some med, give IV fluids, or was it an access port for blood draws?  (Just the old nurse in me that's curious.)  On my last visit to the clinic I asked the study nurse if they were running any Gilead trials and she told me of the ones they are doing.  I am impressed with your rapid response, and you may recall how I feel about John McHutchison, so I'm thinking I might try to go this route if needed.  I get my 12 blood draw this week and will finally know something about 2 weeks later.

I hope that your Mom's off having a nice vacation.  Take good care, and I wish you continued UND.
